If the defect described above is determined in conjunction with error code P0401 being read out from the control unit, the cause could be a contaminated exhaust gas recirculation cooler.
On this engine type (R), the EGR valve does not become too polluted from condensing steam and coking, instead combustion residues can contaminate or block the EGR cooler.
Repair note
Remove the EGR cooler and clean with a suitable cleaning agent depending on the contamination level.
If it is no longer possible to clean the EGR cooler, it must be replaced.
Please observe the vehicle manufacturer's repair and maintenance instructions in this regard.
This defect may also occur in other models from this manufacturer with the same engine.
