With the above vehicles noise may be heard from the engine compartment when idling. The problem however only occurs when the air-conditioning system is switched off and is thus seldom attributed to the air-conditioning system.
A possible cause is a metal circlip, which is fitted to the front of the compressor pulley. When the vehicle is idling with the compressor switched off, the circlip can cause vibrations, which are transmitted via the compressor to the engine block and are perceived as annoying noise.
To rectify the problem, the circlip of the compressor coupling has been modified. With replacement
proceed as follows:
