Diesel particulate filter regeneration is not possible

Regeneration of the diesel particulate filter may no longer be carried out on the above-mentioned vehicle type.
Regeneration using a suitable diagnostic device (forced regeneration) is also not possible.

The particulate filter is so heavily loaded that an error code is stored.
A loss of power can also occur alongside this problem.
If the above-mentioned defect is detected and no faults are found in the periphery as part of the diagnosis, special attention should be paid to the engine and also to the EGR cooling water thermostat.
An engine temperature of at least 75 °C is required to regenerate the diesel particulate filter.
This required engine temperature can no longer be reached if the thermostat is defective.

As part of the troubleshooting process, the engine temperature parameters should be checked with a suitable diagnostic device during an overland test drive.
If the engine temperature does not rise to the required value during the test drive, replacing the engine cooling water thermostat can help.
If the cooling water thermostat is replaced, it is recommended that the EGR cooling water thermostat is also replaced at the same time.
Once the cause of the fault has been removed, delete the error memory and then carry out a test drive.

IMPORTANT
Please always observe in such cases the maintenance and repair notes provided by the vehicle manufacturer.

In certain cases, this information can also apply to other vehicle series.

For your own safety and the safety of other road users, test and trial drives must always be carried out with a second person (driver) present.
