OIL LEVEL SENSORS
HELLA has almost 20 years of experience in developing and producing oil level sensors for many different vehicle models.
Inside the vehicle, the HELLA oil level sensors ensure that the engine does not operate with too little oil. The proven ultrasonic sensor technology operates according to the running time principle and continuously detects fill levels while on the road. While the engine is running (dynamic measuring range), the filling level is clearly lower than the filling level when the engine is idling (static measuring range). The HELLA oil level sensors can measure the oil level continuously, i.e. in the dynamic and the steady-state ranges. They also inform about the oil level across engine operations. This allows avoiding falling below the minimum oil level during engine operations and, therefore, engine damage caused by the abolition of the oil film. If, for example, the oil level becomes critically low or the oil temperature extremely high, the sensor will output a corresponding warning signal in time for the driver to react. That’s why HELLA integrates its multi-chip module (MCM) technology in every oil sensor.

Speed SENSORS
Speed sensors such as the camshaft or crankshaft sensor are required for showing the engine speed and the exact position and crankshaft. The control unit uses these values for calculating the injection and ignition impulses.
