Important safety note
On the vehicles mentioned above, hissing noises can occur from the engine compartment during the acceleration phase. There is often no noticeable loss of power and the engine control lamp is also off.
Defective or loose hoses or hose connections in the area of the charge air cooler are possible causes (Fig. 1).
In addition, it is also possible that the charge air cooler itself is damaged. Often a visual inspection reveals the cause. Traces of oil on the surface(Fig. 2) indicate a crack, which causes the noises mentioned above.
The charge air cooler must be replaced to rectify the problem.
