Important safety note
Technical information and practical tips have been compiled by HELLA in order to provide professional support to vehicle workshops in their work. The information provided on this website is intended for use by suitably qualified personnel only.
With the above-mentioned vehicle, the reversing warning system (parking aid) may suddenly fail. The error message "System not available" appears in the display. And often then the "start/stop" function also no longer works.
In this case, the cause is not necessarily to be found with the software or with the electronic components. The first thing to do is to check the fuses in the fuse box located in the driver's footwell (Fig. 1).
In most such cases, the fuse for the electrically heated wiper washer nozzles is defective (Fig. 2). The cause of this is a short circuit in the heating element of the wiper washer nozzle with the result that not only the fuse but also the nozzles must be replaced.
After replacing these components, functioning of both the parking aid and of the "start/stop" feature is restored.
Where appropriate, this information can also apply to other Volkswagen models.
