If the above-mentioned defect is detected, it may be related to a defect in the vacuum system responsible for controlling the turbocharger.
The vacuum box on the turbocharger actuator (A) is connected to a vacuum tank via vacuum lines and valves. Leaks caused by ageing or component defects can lead to faulty controlling, which triggers the rasping sound.
In such a case, the vacuum system should be tested with an installed vacuum hand pump.
If the test shows that the vacuum is leaking of its own accord, the defective components are to be replaced.
This defect may also occur in other models with the same type of engine.
Please always follow the repair instructions from the vehicle manufacturer when carrying out such work.
