The coolant level and oil level specified for the Grand Cherokee was reduced for vehicles starting with year of manufacture 16 September 1998 (starting with vehicle identification no. MDH0916XX). To achieve better cooling performance, these vehicles now receive at the factory only 680g (previously 730g) coolant and 170ml compressor oil (previously 220 ml). For vehicles built before 16 September 1998, Jeep also recommends using the reduced fill levels after repair or service. This change should be marked by a service sticker.
