In the vehicles mentioned above, there is a risk of the turbocharger failing due to water ingress.
The ingress of water into the pressure canister or position sensor on the turbocharger may cause damage to the components. This impairs control of the turbocharger. Error codes are stored in the control unit. In some cases, the engine may cease to run except in "emergency running" mode.
This issue applies to vehicles with the following turbochargers:
Garrett 806850-xxx (2.3 JTD)
Garrett 796122-xxx (3.0 JTD)
In order to permanently remedy the issue, the following points should be observed when replacing components:
