If the problems mentioned above are detected, this may be due to a hand-brake cable becoming stiff or stuck.
Corrosion or internal damage can then cause the hand-brake cable to jam. If this happens, the lever on the brake caliper will not be able to move into its end position, which in turn causes the brake pad to press lightly against the brake disc. The resulting friction during driving generates unpleasant noises, and also causes the brake pad and brake disc to wear.
This defect often occurs in cold weather conditions.
It is not possible to repair the defective components. If damaged, both handbrake cables need to be replaced. If the brake pads or the brake discs have also been damaged in the process, renewal of these components is also recommended.
