In the above vehicles, a clogged condensation water drain hose may cause a short circuit in the electric auxiliary heater.
The function of the electric (PTC) auxiliary heater located in the heater box may be significantly affected by a clogged condensation water drain.
Because the condensation water is not discharged to the outside, there is a risk of an electrical short circuit. In an extreme case, a cable may catch fire.
The vehicle manufacturer has already addressed the problem and checked the vehicles in the wake of a recall campaign, replacing the drain hose/valve where necessary.
Nevertheless, one may assume that for various reasons not all vehicles have been checked and repaired.
Please note this information, particularly in connection with complaints regarding poor heater performance.
