Fuel filler flap is difficult to open or does not open
If the fuel filler flap in the above-mentioned vehicles does not open or only opens sporadically, there are various potential causes:
- Actuator sluggish
Press the pin on the actuator to determine whether it is sluggish or catches. In this case, eliminate the issue by applying lubricant (Figure 1) - Thefuel filler flap catches on the body panel
Cut off/sand down the protruding part on the fuel filler flap(around the contact point with the body) (Figure 2) - Electrical control element faulty
Another possible cause may be a faulty control element, which must then be replaced
Tip:
A fuel filler flap that does not open can usually be re-opened by lightly tapping on the left side of the lid and simultaneously locking and unlocking it again using the remote control.
