Important safety note
Starter motor defective due to faulty ignition lock
If a defect is detected in the starter or starter motor on the vehicle models mentioned above, a possible cause may be a defective ignition lock.
Damage assessment
In addition, prolonged starting processes can be triggered by poor starting behaviour from the engine.
The following tests should also be carried out:
- Check electrical connections and earth connections for corrosion or damage
- Check the ring gear on the flywheel for damage
This information may also apply to the vehicle manufacturers Opel and Nissan with the same engine variants.
