In modern vehicles, the accelerator pedal no longer acts mechanically via a cable or linkage. Instead, a sensor measures the position of the pedal and transmits this data to the control unit for setting the throttle elements (petrol engine) or to the injection system (diesel engine). The advantage of this approach is that these parameters can be used to prevent wear on the clutch and drivetrain and to reduce CO2 emissions.
HELLA distinguishes between two different position measurement technologies regarding accelerator pedal sensors. Besides the contactless inductive position sensor (CIPOS®), HELLA’s own robust, highly accurate and advanced position technology, HELLA also offers traditional potentiometer technology.
The sensor was designed independently of the APS technology so that the pedal, generation of the pedal force and the sensor are integrated within a modular design. The design and the haptics of the pedal can thus be adapted according to the customer’s individual requirements. HELLA's pedal sensors are available for pendant and floor mounting. HELLA has a market-leading position in the field of accelerator pedal sensors and has many years of application experience in automotive original equipment. The accelerator pedal sensor range includes numerous variants and covers almost all common vehicle manufacturers.
Our range of pedal sensors includes countless variants with numerous vehicle cross-references, so ensuring high coverage for each article. The main applications are produced for Audi, Acura, BMW, Buick, Dodge, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Jeep, Honda, Porsche, Ram, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Nissan, Volkswagen, and Volvo.
