New measuring method, new measuring technology, new chances for good business: in 2023, the test procedure for particulate emissions, which is much more accurate, will be introduced in Germany for all Euro 6 diesel vehicles in line with Guideline 6. Instead of measuring turbidity, the number of particles will be identified for these vehicles.

Therefore, it is clear that workshops and testing organisations that want to continue to offer HU/AU services for the complete vehicle fleet will need to make an investment. New hardware for particle counting is required to implement the defined test sequence in compliance with the standard. From the date the new rules go into effect, workshops that have an opacimeter but not a particle counter will only be able to carry out the AU on diesel vehicles of emission classes Euro 5 and older.

The detection of the smallest particles, such as those produced by modern diesel vehicles, requires considerable technical effort. And anyone who has had to deal with high-precision measurement technology knows that the more precise it is, the more expensive it is.

This means that the measurement procedure is absolutely within the legal requirements in terms of precision.

Yet the manageable purchase price is not the only advantage of the HG4-PCK: it also proves to be uncomplicated to use and is low-maintenance because of the process used. This even applies to removing condensation water droplets contained in the exhaust sample: the PCK does not need to heat the probe at all. And there are no additional costs for consumables.
