Lippstadt, Germany, September 26, 2017. According to the German Federal Statistical Office, the year 2016 saw more than 3000 collisions between cyclists and trucks. This means that the topic of road safety continues to be an issue. From September 28 to October 1, 2017, lighting and electronics expert HELLA will therefore present lighting solutions increasing safety at the trade fair for commercial vehicles NUFAM (Hall 2, Stand C 215).

What has been mandatory for trucks will now become obligatory also for trailers: side direction indicators for enhanced safety. From November 2017, the legal change of the ECE Regulation R48 will require these for new vehicles. Due to these requirements, HELLA has developed a concept based on existing side marker lights. It can be flawlessly and effortlessly integrated into current lighting systems. The side marker light blinks yellow and alerts following traffic, cyclists and pedestrians to the vehicle's turning action.

In addition to side marker lights, work lights also provide more safety, e.g. when working at night. At the fair, HELLA will present for the first time the RokLUME 380 N work lights, illuminating the work surface beyond public roads. The work light was developed for applications with very high illumination requirements. With its 7,500 lumens, the light provides more than twice the intensity of a comparable xenon headlamp. An additional advantage: RokLUME 380 is also available as glare-free ZEROGLARE illumination option, which creates an exact light/darkness border, thus providing glare-free illumination. Oncoming vehicles are not blinded, thus significantly increasing safety and work comfort. With RokLUME 380, HELLA applies technologies of the automotive field to commercial vehicle lighting systems.

The K-LED Blizzard beacon provides not only safety when loading and unloading commercial vehicles but also secures transports of goods. It flashes yellow and generates immediate, intense awareness thanks to its 360° double flash beacon. The K-LED Blizzard is the successor generation to the K-LED FO. The new generation meets the requirements of IP (International Protection) Protection Class 67 and 9K and is resistant against dust and water. The electronics are protected even during treatment with high-pressure cleaners or the temporary submersion up to one meter under water. Its transparent design harmoniously integrates into the existing vehicle design. Up to four beacons can furthermore be synchronized to blink in unison. An additional plus: an integrated functional control informs the driver should the rotating light ever fail.

At its fair stand, HELLA also presents the modular Shapeline light series, including trailer application examples. The modular HELLA Shapeline product range includes a large selection of simple- and multi-function lights for front, side and rear lighting in different shapes and sizes. Shapeline modules can be combined in virtually any constellation.
