At bauma 2025, the world's leading trade fair for construction machinery in Munich, from April 7 to 13, 2025, international automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA will be presenting groundbreaking technologies and product innovations that support the industry's megatrends such as digitalization and sustainability (Hall A5, Booth 436). "Based on our decades of expertise in the field of construction and agricultural machinery and our ability to seamlessly integrate complex technologies, we have developed innovative, digital lighting and electronics solutions," says Dr. Fabian Utermöhlen, Vice President of the Business Group Lifecycle Solutions at FORVIA HELLA, who is responsible for program management and research and development for the commercial vehicle customer segment. "In this way, we are driving the change to environmentally friendly, networked construction machinery and providing new impetus for the future of the industry."
Smart Link Concept: The driver's cab becomes digital and connected
FORVIA HELLA is presenting its vision of a digital and connected construction machine cabin for the first time at bauma 2025: the Smart Link Concept. All lighting products, from the work lamps to the interior lamps, not only communicate with each other via a data bus, but are also networked with sensors, cameras and other electronic components. "Digital networking simplifies the system architecture," says Utermöhlen. "In addition, new technologies and functions can be easily integrated. This ensures that the construction machines will remain state-of-the-art in the coming years."
By networking the lighting with other systems, potential hazards can be detected and visualized at an early stage. Matrix work lamps, for example, ensure optimum illumination of the working environment and minimise glare from oncoming machines and the driver's own glare. Work lamps with different light colours prevent eye fatigue. In addition, the work lamp can be adjusted based on the current lighting conditions to maintain optimal visibility at all times. Signal lamps can also be integrated into the concept. With a view to autonomous driving, these could, for example, display the driving mode or visualize the state of charge. In addition, the "Smart Vehicle Access" system supports driver identification, which is transmitted to the vehicle and enables individual lighting scenarios to be set up there. The access system also enables the management of access authorizations for different people. Fleet managers could thus monitor the status of the vehicles at any time, pass on virtual keys or block them to prevent unauthorized use. "All of these are no longer visions of the future, but are already possible today with our products and solutions. At the trade fair, we make it possible to experience these in an overall concept," says Utermöhlen.
The new K-LED Nano beacon family grows
FORVIA HELLA will also be presenting its latest innovation in the field of safety lighting for construction machinery at bauma 2025 as a further highlight. The company is expanding the popular K-LED Nano to a beacon family with it’s new K-LED Nano 50, 80 and 120. The product range has been specially developed to meet the requirements of the construction industry. The beacon is available in three different sizes, so that it can be flexibly adapted to the different needs and space conditions of the machines. In addition, the lamp can be customised. Manufacturers can apply their own logo, which helps build branding. In addition, customers can choose between the four lens colors amber, blue, red and green. The light cover protects the light source from external influences such as dust, water and mechanical damage and optimizes the light distribution of the beacon. The colour options make it possible to adapt the lamps to specific safety requirements. Another advantage of the K-LED Nano is that it is easy to install via fixed mounting or pipe support. This means that it can be attached quickly and easily to various points on the construction machine. This saves time and reduces the effort involved in installation.
Intelligent battery sensors 24 V with ASIL-B
Highlights from FORVIA HELLA's electronics portfolio round off the trade fair appearance. For example, the company has further developed the intelligent battery sensor specifically to meet ASIL-B safety requirements. The intelligent battery sensors (IBS) from FORVIA HELLA are essential key components for central energy management in the vehicle. They enable precise measurements of voltage, current and temperature parameters and provide insights into the state of charge and aging as well as the performance of the battery. This avoids downtime.
