For the new LYNK & CO 02: FORVIA HELLA launches the company's first Rear Wing Lighting on the market
- First-time integration of rear combination lamp and spoiler in a holistic lighting concept
- Characteristic appearance and significantly improved aerodynamics thanks to high-integrity Rear Wing Lighting
Lippstadt, 13 December 2024. International automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA has brought an aerodynamic Rear Wing Lighting into series production. As the company’s first product of its kind, it integrates both a rear combination lamp as well as a spoiler in a holistic lighting concept. The Rear Wing Lighting is supplied for the new model 02 from LYNK & CO (in China: Z20), a brand of the car manufacturer Geely Auto Group ("Geely"). In Europe, the electric SUV has been available on the market since October of this year (in China: from 22 December). The rear combination lamp is developed and produced locally in China.
"With our innovative Rear Wing Lighting concept, we are setting a new exclamation mark, not only in terms of technological performance, but above all in terms of light signature and design language," says Yves Andres, who, as a member of the Management Board, is responsible for the global lighting business of FORVIA HELLA. "The fact that we are implementing this technology for the first time in China and for a local Chinese car manufacturer once again highlights the high demand for differentiating, customized lighting solutions in this market. We are consistently addressing this trend with our technologies and our local for local approach."
The Rear Wing Lighting developed by FORVIA HELLA is based on a highly integrated product concept. The rear lamp is nearly 2.40 meters long in total; it covers the entire rear of the vehicle and even extends into the sides of the vehicle. Even as a spoiler-like rear lamp, the Rear Wing Lighting also reflects the brand-typical light design of LYNK & CO. On the one hand side, the Rear Wing Lighting implements the legally prescribed lighting functions such as indicator, brake and reverse lights as well as coming home/leaving features. On the other, a very slim, compact product design with a height of less than ten centimeters was developed for the Rear Wing Lighting concept. As a spoiler, the Rear Wing Lighting therefore also improves the aerodynamic performance of the vehicle and also its stability and energy efficiency. This means that not only the optics of the rear lights are integrated in a very small installation space, but also the associated lighting electronics and the structural elements required for robustness and stability.
