FORVIA HELLA receives CLEPA Innovation Award

  • With the intelligent Power Distribution Module (iPDM) with integrated eFuse, FORVIA HELLA is one of the top twelve innovators in the European automotive supply industry
  • The iPDM ensures a smooth power supply and is a central component for autonomous driving

Lippstadt, 5 December 2024. The CLEPA Innovation Awards, organized by the European Association of Automotive Suppliers, recognize outstanding achievements in the automotive supply industry. The international automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA has now been honoured for its intelligent power distribution module (iPDM). The company had already received the prestigious PACEpilot Award for the iPDM in May of this year. Series production of the module will start for a German car manufacturer in 2025.

"We are honored to receive the CLEPA Innovation Award," said Dr. Olaf Lüdtke, Vice President Product Segment Body Control at FORVIA HELLA, at the ceremony. "The award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, which is committed every day to driving the transformation of the automotive industry as well as connected and automated driving."

The iPDM ensures that a smooth power supply is available at all times. This is relevant for automated driving, for example. Instead of traditional fuses, software-controlled electronic fuses, known as "eFuses", are used. Even in the event of a potential defect or overheating, these ensure that the power supply is not interrupted and that the basic functionality of safety-relevant driving functions is guaranteed at all times. This innovation not only makes energy management in motor vehicles smarter, but is also in line with FORVIA HELLA's mission to actively shape the future of mobility with innovative, forward-looking technologies.

The ninth CLEPA Innovation Awards ceremony took place on 4 December 2024 in Brussels, marking the organisation's 65th anniversary. At the event, groundbreaking ideas in the field of green and digital technologies in the automotive supply industry were presented. During the event, 12 top innovators were awarded. In addition, discussions took place with high-ranking EU politicians on the future of transport.
