Hella Gutmann Cyber Security Management now also for BMW

Lippstadt, 13 August 2024. Hella Gutmann is continuously expanding the 'Cyber Security Management' (CSM) in its mega macs range of diagnostic devices. Now users can also diagnose the latest BMW vehicles protected by cyber security systems without having to go through the OE portal. Hella Gutmann had already implemented the function in its mega macs range of diagnostic devices in 2020. With the latest expansion, the function is now available for a total of 17 brands.

At BMW, cyber security measures using SFA (Secure Feature Activation) began in 2022 in the luxury class (7 Series) and in the third-generation X1 compact SUV. Workshops are now supported by Hella Gutmann CSM in the diagnosis of these models and the newer 5 Series and X2 model series. Extensions to include future BMW models are planned. Workshops currently benefit from largely unhindered diagnostic processes for young models from Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Cupra, Dacia, Dodge/RAM, Fiat, Hyundai, Jeep, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Seat, Skoda and VW. In addition, the cyber security locks of Ford, Polestar and Volvo can be cancelled with almost every mega macs via the required See Key procedure. In total, Hella Gutmann's cyber security unlocking functions are therefore available for more than 650 vehicle models.

Using the CSM is simple: instead of registering individually in each OE portal, undergoing tests, following the respective process steps for vehicle-specific diagnostic activations and paying fees, mega macs users only need to authenticate themselves once with Hella Gutmann free of charge. The vehicle gateways are then unlocked automatically - provided there is an Internet connection.

Every mega macs recognises whether it is a secured vehicle immediately after the vehicle has been identified manually or via VIN. If a CSM user account is available, it automatically initiates all activation steps for unlocking the vehicle’s gateway in a fraction of a second. This means that the usual diagnostic functions such as reading/deleting error codes, viewing parameters, basic settings, calibrations, coding, actuator tests and service resets are available. CSM is available at no additional cost for all mega macs devices and solutions that are operated with an active, chargeable licence.
